Friday 19th December - walks **** – Needham Lake – Sunny.

Friday started clouded so I didn’t bother to got on Mags early morning walk but it soon cleared and we enjoyed a day of lovely winter sunshine! Friday is Maeva day and Mag picked her up early today at 10, we had fun with cushion stepping stones and played a dice game with farm animal jigsaw pieces before I packed a picnic, I had a plan and we left Felixtowe around 11.30 on a mystery tour! I thought we could take her little bike over to Needham Market for a spin around the lake and feed the birds, we started our married life there and were there when the lake was dig and even windsurfed on it when I first started sailing over 40 years ago! Maeva promptly fell asleep on the journey so we made a small detour turning off at Claydon and taking the scenic route past Shrubland Park before reaching the lake and were lucky to get a prime parking spot near the water which was covered in black headed gulls, with a couple of swans, a few ducks and a solo cormorant! It took Maeva ages to come round as we watched loads of dog walkers and families feeding the birds, this certainly is a popular spot! We then enjoyed the picnic before opening the door to feed the gulls, they liked the duck food and quickly swarmed in to gobble that up, we left the bike and decided to walk with her buggy over to the duck feeding area and Mag and Maeva were soon surrounded with loads of gulls and two pushy swans which got too close for Maeva’s liking! We then walked over the footbridge over the River Gipping to the small park near the coffee shop and Maeva enjoyed her go on the swing and small trampoline! We then did a circuit of the lovely lake stopping for Maeva to take a couple of selfies, she did get in the buggy for a short time but walked most of it! Back at the van Maeva had a small piece of chocolate and we tried feeding the gulls again, they were not keen on the bird grain but loved the mealworms! Then it was just the 20 mile trip back to Felixstowe for an hour of quiet time with Peppa Pig before taking her home! We were surprised that they are out at someone's 70th party dancing the night away, she will sleep for a month!
